June 08 Why did you have to take a cold dive

Cold landing for the win

My 14 year old daughter shot this video of me using The Cold Plunge. I hope you enjoy watching me freeze as much as I did! 🙂

They say great things don’t happen when you’re in your comfort zone and 49 degrees is definitely not my comfort zone! Listen, it’s not easy to completely immerse yourself in a freezing cold bath, let’s be honest. But there are three main reasons for my existence cold diving Why did you choose to use it:

1. Speeds up metabolism to help burn fat

2. The pain and inflammation are gone!

3. Anti-aging biohacker that helps stimulate collagen

For these reasons, I do my best to get past the pain of freezing. My husband Brooks does it every day! …I’m working on it 😉 I get kind of dramatic – the first minute is really rough and kinda fun, but once you get past that first minute of fight-or-flight, you feel a shift in your body and it can ease into the cold. Then when you step out, you feel incredible and totally refreshed.

The most important health benefits of cold dumping

cold therapy (or exposure to cold) has a number of scientifically proven health benefits related to overall health, mental health, and recovery — from increased energy, to boosting the immune system, and reduced inflammation. In fact, if done regularly, you can see the following health benefits as a result of cold drowning:

  • Immune system support
  • Increases blood flow
  • Reduces chronic pain
  • Boosts your metabolism
  • Helps burn fat and speeds up metabolism
  • Better sleep and deeper relaxation
  • Boosts energy levels
  • increases focus
  • boosts your mood
  • Helps you manage stress better
  • Practice and improve your discipline
  • Increase flexibility and mental toughness
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Improves muscle soreness and speeds up physical recovery
  • Enhances overall performance

Visually pleasing and easy to use

I was really drawn to The Cold Plunge because of its clean look and how easy it is to use. Since it’s a more modern look rather than ugly, it’s not a pain in the eye wherever you choose to place it and because there’s no plumbing required (amazing, right?!), you can place it literally anywhere. All you have to do is fill it with water (I used a hose) and the built in pump and filter systems keep the water clean and cool.

I love that you don’t have to change the water with every cold dip because the filter it has does all the cleaning work for you! Quite different from the first cold dive I ever took, which was literally a huge bucket of ice that required you to constantly refill it with ice (and it doesn’t clean, so it breeds bacteria – yak!)

Super clean and low maintenance

Cold Plunge has an internal filtration and water treatment system consisting of five micronized water purification, ozone sanitation, and ultraviolet (UV) sanitation. This combination ensures that no bacteria, mold, or viruses will grow in the water. As a result, you don’t have to replace the water as you do with most other cold dive options.

They also have a water maintenance kit available for purchase that contains six replacement filters and three treatment solutions that are free of chlorine and bromine to prevent water line deposits, keep water clean (by oxidizing organic compounds), and add another layer of bacteria control.

Smooth delivery and easy installation

The Cold Plunge has a free shipping agreement (to 48 lower states) that blew my mind. On the free delivery, FedEx pushed the tub where we wanted it (anywhere on the first floor), took the plunger out of the box and removed all the packing materials, so we didn’t even have to think about getting rid of it. Amazing!

After it was unpacked, it was very easy to set up. You connect the water and drain, connect the coolant (temperature controller) to the GFCI outlet, connect the hosed water filter, and fill the aquarium with water! Once it’s full, you turn on the cooler, set it to the target temperature (my husband sets it to 49 degrees but can go as low as 39 degrees) and cool the water overnight. This is it! very easy!

There are several cold therapy options to choose from, but for me, choosing The Cold Plunge for my home was the perfect solution for a number of reasons. It was visually appealing, easy to set up, easy to use, cleans itself, and it was an affordable investment in my health.
