November 08 Why bone broth is the secret to good health with Dr. Kilian Petrucci
For women 40 and over, FIBER is the magic. I repeat, magic fibers! Many people are missing the mark here. First, fiber is great for slowing down the rate at which insulin attacks things in your body — with fiber, it’s slow-release, not a heavy, heavy hit of insulin. Second, when we eat fiber, we release hormones completely differently. As we get older, it is known that we can have the naturally occurring “estrogen dominance” when progesterone begins to decline. One of the natural ways you can stabilize your hormones during this time is to eat fiber. Fiber works with your microbiome to release estrogen! This is one of the reasons why it is so important not to leave it out of your diet
Diets should only do three things:
- Reduce inflammation in your body
- Regulating blood sugar
- Healing the gut
With this trifecta, you’ll have freedom and diversion – and spoiler alert, bone broth is the star when it comes to this. The intestinal wall and intestine have a very thin layer of protection, and it is very easy to puncture it. This is why it’s important to have something to treat (or as Dr. Kilian says “spackle”!) Bone Broth does it thanks to both glycine and gelatin! Glycine (an amino acid), found in bone broth, has already been found in studies to heal and seal the intestinal wall. So bone broth is one punch, two, to heal your gut and increase your anti-aging effects.
Are you a vegetarian? You can search for “potassium broth”. It’s not as great as bone broth, but it definitely checks some of the boxes.
Bone broth benefits:
- A great form of protein for every meal
- Amino acids
- Heal and seal your gut
- Strengthens bones, muscles and tendons
- Strengthens immunity
- Strengthens hair and nails
- Improves skin elasticity and can reduce the appearance of wrinkles
- Reduces the internal inflammation that can be a trigger for many common diseases, ailments and health problems
- Improves joint function and reduces joint pain
- releases toxins
- suppresses appetite
