From being a trainee to a long-term career, these success stories didn’t just happen once at Runtastic.
In the technology industry, there is always a huge demand for top talent. While this is true at Runtastic, we also nurture and support people who are starting their careers By offering training courses that allow them to gain valuable professional experience.
We know that today’s entry-level employee can become tomorrow’s top employee. For this reason, all our training courses are designed to be as practical as possible. At Runtastic, we believe that learning comes from action and that it is essential to embrace the mistakes made along the way – which is why learning from failure is also One of our values.
Bianca, one of our talent scouts, started her Runtastic journey as a trainee and shares her personal experience that led her to become a permanent member of the team.
Bianca, talent scout
“My journey at Runtastic began as an intern. While looking for jobs after completing my master’s degree, I came across a job ad for Runtastic. Unfortunately, I learned shortly before my second interview that the job had been filled, and was asked if I would also be interested in an internship.
Honestly, I wasn’t very enthusiastic at first because I wanted a permanent job, and I actually did many internships during my studies. However, I had a great filter experience. I could really see myself working with the people I met, and felt that the Runtastic culture fit right in with my personality and interests/values.
So, I decided to join the company for a 4 month internship in the talent acquisition team. I was very excited and motivated because it was my first time working in an international work environment and also because I wanted to show my potential in a permanent position.
During my internship, I was regularly talking to my team leader about the possibility of joining Runtastic permanently, however, there was no vacancy until one of our team members decided to pursue another opportunity. Because of that, I finally had the chance to stay.
When my captain asked if I was interested in taking on this position, I was thrilled and relieved that I didn’t want to work anywhere else, so it really was a dream come true for me.
I’ve been working at Runtastic as a permanent team member for over a year now and I’m still very happy to be part of the team. Doing the training and moving forward was definitely worth it! ”
Bianca is not the only intern whose experience has led her to become a valued member of our team. Here are three former Runtastic interns whose journeys have not only led them to land long-term careers with us, but have also allowed for supportive collaborations with their teammates along the way.
Ivana, iOS Engineer
“When I just joined Runtastic as an intern, I got a buddy, who is the guy who acts as an intern mentor. He explained to me all the processes and ways of working in the company. There was a lot of new information to catch up on, but it was very easy as we have great colleagues who are always ready For help if needed.
I had been using the apps personally even before joining, and that was really a good trigger for me wanting to stay as a full time employee. Even though I know the internship doesn’t promise a full-time job, after a few months at Runtastic, I was hoping to stay, and luckily I had the opportunity when one of them left. The uncertainty was stressful but worth it.
The best thing for me was the team and the company culture in general. Of course, it pays to work in a field that you are interested in but having great people around creates the perfect work environment.”
Tatiana, Social Media Manager
“When I applied for an internship, the role I was interested in was not available, so I wanted to be added to the talent pool. It took two months, but in the end, a suitable position opened for me and I was able to join the social media team. When I studied In a completely different field, I was very grateful for the opportunity to switch to another, more interesting field.
During my 4-month internship, I deepened my existing knowledge and learned a lot of new things. My team was very supportive and open to answering any questions, so naturally, when the option to continue full-time came up, I had to say yes!
Thanks to the internship, I went from someone with no education or experience in this field to a trusted social media manager for global channels on various platforms, with plenty of opportunities and freedom to explore new ideas and trends. ”
Rafael, background engineer
“I did my studies related training as a background engineer with Runtastic in February 2021. One aspect I really enjoyed was that I never felt like a trainee at all. From day one onwards, my teacher treated me as a complete developer and assigned me exciting and challenging tasks.
After completing a bachelor’s degree, there was a vacancy and I am now back as a full time employee! As I’ve gone through this process before, I can pretty much pick up where I left off.”
