If you are looking for Some good beer This weekend, there’s no better place to be than Denver. After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Great American Beer Festival It returns and celebrates its fortieth anniversary.
At the first Great American Beer Festival in 1982, there were 24 breweries and 47 breweries. In an interview, Chris Papazian, founder of GABF, said there were a total of 40 craft breweries across the United States in the first year. So the engagement was actually very good.
“It really worked, really,” Papazian told KUSA. “They must have thought there was a glimmer of hope in the beer trade, and maybe something might come out of it.”
Papazian’s ray of hope has only gotten brighter in the past 40 years. The 2022 event will feature more than 500 breweries serving more than 2,000 beers. hosted by Brewers Association, a trade organization for small and independent brewers in the United States, the festival expects a crowd of about 40,000 visitors between October 6 and October 8. ounce samples. If you were some kind of inhuman drinking machine with time on your hands, you could theoretically sip about 16 gallons of beer over a weekend — one ounce at a time.
The festival also includes PAIRED, a separate event where organizers pair 25 breweries with 25 chefs. Chef and brewery pairs will create a tasting menu featuring beers that won’t be available on the festival grounds.
And, of course, one of our favorite parts of the Great American Beer Festival is naming the winners. Last year, 290 medals were awarded to 265 breweries in 97 different beer categories.
If you are planning to go to GABF, the number of participants can be overwhelming. With over 500 breweries, what should you try? While we believe there is nothing better than wandering aimlessly beer landYou might like some direction. With that in mind, here are 10 brewery booths we’d be working on at the Great American Beer Festival.
