The first time I used it polishing tapeI was really amazed – seriously, I couldn’t believe how soft my skin was. While in the shower, I wetted the bar and rubbed in gentle circular motions over the roughest areas (the back of my arms and thighs), instantly releasing any trapped hair and keratin buildup. My poor feet also have some sticky nails (while commuting in NYC – wearing sandals – enough), so I dedicated a few moments to my heels, and the results were better than any pumice stone I tried.
The brand calls the Buffing Bar “a peeling brick,” which I honestly think is the perfect term. It’s definitely not your average creamy soap; The experience actually feels kind of like an exfoliating glove – a bit rough and grainy – yet still lathers like a traditional bar of soap. That’s because the formula contains magnesium oxide crystals, which are small but effective at physical exfoliation, plus sodium palm (the surfactant in bar soaps), glycerin, aloe vera, and shea butter to moisturize and soften skin at the same time.
