On Wednesday, August 31, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued emergency use authorizations for Pfizer’s new booster vaccines and Moderna mRNA for COVID. The next day, September 1, the CDC’s advisory committee and the CDC director’s director agreed to release the new vaccines immediately. They will be administered in the United States starting this week.
