Read the first part of our trip to BHI over here! Here’s Part 2: 4-Year-Old Birch, and Halloween on Bald Head Island.
golf + island jump
On our third day we had dreary weather.
rising tide
We’ve never seen the tide so high! Apparently something is falling off.
Mazen and Thomas went golfing, and Birch and I did some errands, including picking up his birthday cake!
Lunch at the club
I needed a big salad, so we went to the club for lunch to meet Mazen after 9 in front of me.
Fleming Education Center
We were hoping to swim, but it started raining. (The pool is heated, but no who – which Hot.) So we went to Flemming at the BHI Conservancy to visit snakes and turtles!
Fichen Time
When Thomas came home, we all took a rest and then the boys fished some more, as usual.
Dinner in the palm
We were hoping to cook one night, but Thomas and I got lazy, so we went out to dinner again. Not a great use of money, but also a great use of money 🙂 🙂
We went to The Palms at the Club, which is a casual pub.
We had the fondue to share (which is what Mazen love), and I had the crab soup and some of the best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had!
night at night
Fourth Birchday
Saturday Birch Turn 4!!!!!! Check my Instagram some of his memories birthday.
lunch party
After a lazy morning, we had his party at lunchtime. I took the boys for a spooky walk while Thomas was getting dressed.
gifts
Unlock some gifts!
And he went to look for his “big” gift – youtube player!
pirate cake
Then it’s cake time! We ordered his cake from Sarah in Island Times Café. It was everything we had hoped for!
Captain Jack Sparrow loved it!
Let them eat cake
We didn’t make them eat anything else for lunch. Just a cake!!
I had a cake first Then a bowl of Brussels sprouts leftover from dinner. lol.
Halloween on Bald Head Island
After the party we wear our costumes for trick-or-treating!
I’m so glad I thought of costume packs because we had no idea so many island homes would be participating in this Saturday day event. I had searched Google for “Halloween on Bald Head Island” and couldn’t find anything. It was so much fun!
Halloween golf cart
Thomas was the driver and I used the map and guide to take us around the island to the homes that were involved. We felt a great sense of community when we finished two hours later.
Some homeowners wear costumes. Love this pirate house Birch.
A scary night at the club
After a break, we headed to the club for dinner and a haunted house.
The boys had a great time watching the ghouls warm up during dinner.
Dinner at Horizons
I had grouper, veggies and grits for my entree.
I was so excited to see that The Holderness family The food was across the terrace from us!! You may know them through their funny sarcastic music videos or the amazing race!
haunted house
The club made an epic haunted house. They turned the pool’s blood red, and there were several sections. I didn’t get any pictures where it was too dark, but Mazen loved it!
Birch had no interest in passing.

Happy trip
We headed home Sunday morning on the ferry. It was a wonderful fall trip!
