How to have a perfect Thanksgiving dinner, according to an expert

The host has only two hands, one oven, and only a few hours to prep, cook, and serve an array of sides alongside 15- to 25-pound turkey It requires careful roasting, smoking, or deep-frying—all of which make proper Thanksgiving timing a must. 1. Create a master plan 3 or more days in advance

3. Delegate some sides and dessert

7. Prepare the grill

Roast the vegetables in a tray and serve it hot or cold. Any side dish can be heated in an oven-safe bowl on the grill, as you would fritters, but keep the temperature low and protect it carefully.

8. Just buy the pie

Unless you’re an accomplished pastry chef, pies from this fancy bakery in town are the way to go. Just make fresh whipped cream. In a frosted, cold metal bowl (make sure it’s deep), pour the heavy cream, a little bit of the vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of the granulated sugar. Beat with an electric mixer or a hand mixer until the mixture becomes fluffy.

9. Mission Failed

In the unlikely event that a request to go out might be required, try humor. Guests will follow your lead, so be positive and optimistic. Laugh and they will join you. Get upset and lose everything. The disastrous results only make the stories more interesting years later, and everyone loves pizza.
