All of the modern, rugged, outdoor-oriented smartwatches are pretty amazing in their own right, but most lack the satisfying old-school feel of being able to check the analog dial at a glance. However, the new Garmin Instinct Crossover Smart WatchDropped today, it mixes the now popular technology that lets you check dozens of fitness metrics, along with GPS and solar charging, with an all-analog dial. Designed for outdoor adventures in urban and rural areas, the watch has a durable fiber-reinforced nylon body designed to meet military standards for fatigue and durability, heat and shock resistance, and is rated water-resistant to 100 metres.
“We created the Instinct Crossover for active individuals who prefer the look of a traditional watch but are willing to take advantage of the functionality of a modern smartwatch,” said Dan Bartell, Vice President of Global Consumer Sales at Garmin. “By eliminating the need to compromise between tradition and technology, the Instinct Crossover reimagines and redefines the modern adventure smartwatch.”
The new watch includes Garmin’s usual suite of health and wellness features. Sleep logging and monitoring, health tracking, as well as fitness-focused metrics like VO2 max, pulse oximetry, training status, heart rate variability status, and recovery times are all present. To help you out with the wildlife, you also have GPS tracking, multi-GNSS support, TracBack routing (to navigate the same route back to your starting point), an altimeter and sensors, as well as a compass at your fingertips. The Tactical Edition adds to these features with cool upgrades like night vision compatibility, stealth mode, dual-coordinate GPS, and a kill switch.
