Or, on the other hand, you may still want to have children, and so there may be a sense of urgency about finding a match, she explains.
And even if you don’t want children, of course there is still an urgent need to find a partner. Collier notes Middle-aged bachelors They may feel “fundamentally flawed or deficient” because they have not “checked the box” as many of their peers do. “For a lot of women, it’s still such a strong cultural conditioning that we’re not complete until we’re in a relationship — and it’s crazy,” she adds.
Plus, between family obligations and busy work schedules, it can be difficult to meet singles your age outside the home, even when you frequent events and social scenes near you.
But the good news is, Collier says, dating in your 40s also gives you a unique opportunity to swim in the dating pool as a mature adult with A strong sense of self. “If we do some inner work, in our 40s we have the potential to have a much healthier relationship. Someone else adds to our lives if we’re healthy, as opposed to, ‘You fill me in,’ or, ‘I want you to be okay,'” she explains.
